Report

India’s economy is one of the fastest growing in the world, with a rapidly expanding consumer class.  With strong ties between the two countries, UK and Indian companies are well positioned to develop partnerships to benefit from the escalating export and investment market opportunities.

This event programme was a unique opportunity for UK companies to meet key organisations within the Indian automotive sector, especially those with an interest in low carbon vehicles and who are interested in doing business and forming partnerships.

Leading Indian manufacturers and technology companies were recruited by UKTI in India working with the major Indian automotive trade Associations SIAM and ACMA, as well as ARAI the leading R&D body.

The UK/India Low Carbon Vehicle Seminars in Delhi and Pune focussed on Low Carbon Vehicles and provided an excellent forum for UK and Indian businesses and research establishments to share expertise and identify opportunities to develop links between organisations in both countries.

The seminars were well attended with over 90 delegates attending the Delhi seminar and 110 delegates attending the seminar in Pune.

The outcome of both seminars was very encouraging with an excellent mix of companies from within India.  This led to some excellent discussions between UK and India companies.

Please find enclosed the findings of the seminar in Delhi on the 25th November 2009.  The seminar explored the opportunities for collaboration in detail focusing on four technical areas, which were Hybrids, Electric Vehicles, Improvements to Internal Combustion Engines and Advanced Materials.
